Heartland drops 4-0 game to ICC despite efforts of Anderson

Chelsea Anderson did all she could to give Heartland a boost, but it wasn't enough to get past ICC, as Heartland lost 4-0 in seven innings at Mattoon on Saturday. Anderson was solid at the plate for Heartland. Anderson went 2-3. She singled in the second and fourth innings.
ICC stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the fourth, scoring one run on A groundout by #18. ICC increased its lead with two runs in the fifth. #2 kicked things off with a single, plating #10. That was followed up by #3's double, scoring #1.

Heartland escapes Danville behind Wilson's seven strikeouts, 2-0

Beth Wilson hopes every outing could go as well as Friday, as Wilson tossed a shutout to carry Heartland to a 2-0 victory over Danville in seven innings. Wilson shut down Danville while she was on the mound. Danville managed just one hit off of the Heartland's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked four and struck out seven during her seven innings of work.
Danielle Burge had a hot bat for Heartland. Burge went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. She homered in the third inning. The game was never in doubt after the second, as Heartland scored one run on an RBI single by Talia Verardo.

Heartland makes the most of three hits in 4-1 victory over Shawnee

Heartland and Shawnee each put runners in scoring position on Friday, but Heartland capitalized on more RBI opportunities, pulling out a 4-1 win.
Shawnee had six hits compared with Heartland's three, but Shawnee stranded seven runners on base. Kate Mayes led Heartland's offensive threat, as she got on base two times in the game. She scored two runs and had one RBI. She tripled in the seventh inning.
Kathryn Brown picked up the win for Heartland. Brown pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run, six hits and no walks while striking out five.
In the second inning, Shawnee pushed across its only run of the day on an RBI single by Nicole Wright. The game's last lead went to Heartland thanks to a fifth inning rally that saw two runs cross the plate on a two-run double by Danielle Burge.

Heartland falls behind in sixth inning in 4-2 loss to ICC

Heartland lost a hotly contested 4-2 game in seven innings on Friday at Mattoon after surrending the lead in the sixth inning. ICC stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the sixth, scoring two runs on a two-run error.

Early lead gives Heartland easy victory over Lincoln, 9-0

Heartland jumped out to an early lead on Lincoln and captured a 9-0 victory on Thursday at Mattoon in round one of the Region tournament. Five runs in the first three innings allowed Heartland to put the game away early. A two-run single by Talia Verardo during the second inning supplied the early offense for Heartland. Verardo racked up four RBIs on two hits for Heartland.
Beth Wilson brought the heat against Lincoln during her outing. Lincoln managed just one hit off of Wilson, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out six during her four innings of work.
Heartland piled on three more runs in the bottom of the third. The inning looked promising, as Christina Beam singled, scoring Kate Mayes to kick things off. That was followed up by a walk by Lindsey Williams that scored Beam. Heartland added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Amanda Hainlen's single got things going, bringing home Brittiany Tjarks. That was followed up by Verardo's triple, plating Amber Seiler and Hainlen.

A 12-run explosion in the first inning led Heartland to a 15-0 win in five innings over Lincoln at The Corn Crib on Sunday. Lindsey Stevens got a hit in each of her two at bats. She singled in the first inning and doubled in the second inning.
Beth Wilson got the win for Heartland. She tossed three innings of shutout ball. The Heartland pitcher struck out four, walked two and surrendered one hit.
Amber Seiler, Talia Verardo, Kate Mayes and Stevens helped lead Heartland. They combined for eight hits and eight RBIs.

Game 2 - Early lead gives Heartland easy victory over Lincoln, 9-1

Heartland refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against Lincoln, recording a 9-1 victory on Sunday at The Corn Crib. With five runs in the first three innings, Heartland left no doubt about the eventual outcome. A solo home run by Danielle Burge in the first inning and a sacrifice fly by Lindsey Williams during the second inning supplied the early offense for Heartland.
Heartland hit three home runs in the win. Additional home runs for Heartland came when Chelsea Anderson homered in the third inning and Williams homered in the fourth inning. Burge had two extra-base hits for Heartland.
Kathryn Brown got the win for Heartland. She allowed one run over five innings. The Heartland pitcher struck out six, walked two and surrendered three hits. Heartland's Williams, Kate Mayes, Anderson and Burge combined for seven hits and nine RBIs.
Heartland increased its lead with four runs in the fourth. A solo home run by Williams ignited the offense,. That was followed up by Mayes' single, scoring Amber Seiler.

Game 1 - Heartland gets late runs to finish off Parkland, 10-3

A six-run explosion in the seventh inning carried Heartland to a 10-3 win in seven innings over Parkland at Champaign on Saturday. Talia Verardo put herself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for Heartland. She singled in the fifth and sixth innings and doubled in the second and seventh innings.
Beth Wilson worked out of 23 tricky spots for Heartland. She pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs on three hits. Wilson faced her toughest moment in the sixth inning.
Heartland was sparked by Verardo and Kate Mayes, who teamed up for nine hits and five RBIs.
Parkland brought home one run in the second inning, and matched that run total in the fourth. In the second, Parkland scored on an error, bringing home #24. The lead stayed with Heartland after the fifth, when it scored four runs on a two-run error, a groundout by Mayes, and an RBI single by Chelsea Anderson.

Game 2 - Heartland outmuscled by Parkland, 9-0

Despite a big day at the dish from Chelsea Anderson, who finished 2-2, Heartland lost 9-0 to Parkland at Champaign on Saturday. Parkland's #15, #4 and #25 combined for six hits and six RBIs. The game was never in doubt after the first, as Parkland scored three runs on two singles and an RBI triple by #4.

Heartland shut the door early on Sauk Valley, capturing a 12-4 victory on Wednesday at Sauk Valley. Ten runs in the first three innings allowed Heartland to put the game away early. A three-run double by Talia Verardo and an RBI double by Lindsey Williams during the first inning and an RBI single by Danielle Burge and a walk by Verardo in the second inning supplied the early offense for Heartland. Verardo racked up five RBIs on two hits for Heartland.
Beth Wilson kept contact to a minimum, striking out 12 Sauk Valley batters. Wilson allowed two earned runs, six hits and two walks over six innings. One run in the bottom of the second helped Sauk Valley close its deficit to 6-1. An RBI single by #21 gave Sauk Valley life. Heartland stopped the rally after Wilson got #11 to strike out.
Heartland tacked on another four runs in the third. A clutch error scored Kelsey Lowry to open the scoring in the frame. That was followed up by Chelsea Anderson's single, plating Melissa Jagodzinski and Christina Beam. Heartland added two more runs in the top of the sixth. A ground out scored Lowry to get Heartland on the board in the inning. That was followed up by a groundout by Beam that scored Jagodzinski.

Game 2 - Heartland jumps on Sauk Valley early and coasts to 7-1 win

Heartland lost 4-2 in seven innings at Olney on Wednesday, despite out hitting Olney CC eight to five. Danielle Burge had two extra-base hits for Heartland. She doubled in the fourth inning and homered in the sixth inning.
Beth Wilson handled Olney CC's lineup with ease, racking up six strikeouts. Wilson allowed one earned run, five hits and two walks over six innings.
Olney CC went up for good in the first, scoring one run on an RBI single by #21. Olney CC piled on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth. The inning got off to a hot start when #19 singled, bringing home #3. That was followed up by an error that scored #8. One run in the top of the sixth helped Heartland close its deficit to 3-1.
A solo home run by Burge sparked Heartland's rally. Amanda Hainlen flew out to end the Heartland threat. Olney CC quickly matched Heartland's strong inning with a one-run inning of its own in the sixth. Olney CC scored on an RBI single by #19. A one-run seventh inning helped bring Heartland within two. A solo home run by Chelsea Anderson gave Heartland life. Heartland's Lindsey Stevens to end the ballgame.

Game 2 - Heartland take out Olney CC with help from Burge, 5-2

Danielle Burge went 1-3 and hit a home run, helping Heartland to a 5-2 victory over Olney CC on Wednesday at Olney. She homered in the seventh inning.
Kathryn Brown had an impressive outing against Olney CC's lineup. Olney CC managed just one hit off of Brown, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four during her four innings of work.
The top of the first saw Heartland take an early lead, 1-0. A double by Amanda Hainlen, plating Lindsey Stevens started the inning off. Heartland went up for good in the fifth, scoring two runs on a two-run home run by Christina Beam.

A six-run explosion in the fourth inning spurred Heartland to an 11-0 win in five innings over Lincoln Land CC at Corn Crib on Monday.
Heartland hit four home runs in the win. Home runs for Heartland came when Melissa Jagodzinski homered in the second inning, Kate Mayes homered in the second inning, Chelsea Anderson homered in the third inning, and Amanda Hainlen homered in the fourth inning.
Heartland's Mayes was perfect at the dish, going 3-3. She homered in the second inning and singled in the first and fourth innings. Beth Wilson got the win for Heartland. She pitched five shutout innings. The Heartland pitcher struck out six, walked two and surrendered two hits.

Game 2 - Heartland outmuscled by Lincoln Land CC, 8-1

Heartland lost 8-1 to Lincoln Land CC on Monday at Corn Crib, despite a total of seven hits. Danielle Burge paced Heartland at the plate. Burge went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. She homered in the sixth inning.
Worster, Detmer and Jenkins helped lead Lincoln Land CC. They combined for seven hits and five RBIs. Lincoln Land CC put up one run in each of the second, third, fourth, and fifth. In the second, Lincoln Land CC scored on a passed ball, scoring Worster. Lincoln Land CC posted one run in each of the third, fourth and fifth. In the third, Lincoln Land CC scored on an RBI single by Detmer, bringing home Jenkins. The sixth inning saw Heartland score its only run on the day on a solo home run by Burge.

Heartland jumped out to an early lead on Spoon River and captured a 13-1 victory on Sunday at Canton. Seven runs in the first three innings allowed Heartland to put the game away early. A steal of home by Kate Mayes and an RBI single by Danielle Burge in the first inning and a groundout by Christina Beam and an RBI single by Amanda Hainlen during the second inning fueled Heartland's offense early.
Mayes racked up two RBIs on two hits for Heartland. She singled in the first and third innings. Spoon River's lineup had no answer for Beth Wilson. Spoon River managed just one hit off of Wilson, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out six during her three innings of work.

Game 2 - Heartland jumps on Spoon River early and coasts to 12-0 win

Heartland blew out Spoon River 12-0 on Sunday at Canton after pouring on eight runs in the first inning. Spoon River couldn't get anything going as long as Susan Goetze was pitching. Goetze held Spoon River hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out eight.
Heartland's Lindsey Williams, Kate Mayes and Danielle Burge combined for six hits and six RBIs. After posting one run in the second, Heartland again scored one in the fifth. In the second, Heartland scored on an RBI single by Audrey Butler, plating Amanda Hainlen.

Heartland jumped out to an early lead on John Wood and captured a 10-1 victory on Saturday at Corn Crib. With six runs in the first three innings, Heartland left no doubt about the eventual outcome. An RBI single by Amanda Hainlen in the first inning and during the second inning fueled Heartland's offense early. Hainlen racked up three RBIs on two hits for Heartland.
Beth Wilson's seven strikeouts were enough to push Heartland past John Wood. Wilson allowed one earned run, three hits and four walks over five innings. Heartland brought home four runs in the third inning, and matched that run total in the fourth.
In the third, Heartland scored on a two-run home run by Chelsea Anderson, plating Amber Seiler. Heartland added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth. The inning got off to a hot start when Hainlen homered, scoring Danielle Burge. That was followed up by a groundout by Kelsey Lowry that scored Anderson.

Game 2 - Heartland top John Wood behind Burge's three hits, 8-5

Danielle Burge clubbed two home runs as she carried Heartland to an 8-5 win over John Wood at Corn Crib in seven innings. Heartland came out swinging, scoring four runs in the first inning to jump ahead of John Wood early.
Heartland hit three home runs in the win. Home runs for Heartland came when Chelsea Anderson homered in the first inning and Burge homered in the first and second innings. Susan Goetze got the win for Heartland. She allowed one run over four innings. The Heartland pitcher struck out five, walked one and surrendered three hits.
Kelsey Lowry, Anderson and Burge helped lead Heartland. They combined for six hits and five RBIs. John Wood scored one run in the top of the second to cut its deficit to three. A solo home run by #2 sparked John Wood's rally. #12 struck out to end the John Wood threat. After a quick strike from John Wood, Heartland responded with two runs in the second. Heartland scored on a two-run home run by Burge.
Heartland got one-run rallies in the third inning and the sixth. In the third, Heartland scored on an error, plating Lowry. Four runs in the top of the fifth helped John Wood close its deficit to 7-5. An error and a three-run home run by #2 fueled John Wood's comeback. Finally, Kelsie Kuhlmann got #8 to strike out to end the threat.

Hawks defeat Danville Area CC in both games Thursday. Lindsay Williams homered in game one helping the Hawks to a 3-1 victory. Danielle Burge homered in game two contributing to the 13-5 win.

Game 1 - Heartland seize victory thanks to late fielder's choice, drop Lincoln 8-6

Heartland outlasted Lincoln on Saturday after four lead changes, squeaking out a 8-6 win at Lincoln. Heartland pulled out the win thanks to a strong sixth inning. Heartland would not relinquish the lead as Lincoln was unable to weather a four-run sixth inning deficit.
Lincoln scored two runs in the seventh on a two-run home run by #16. Despite its efforts, Lincoln couldn't finish the comeback.
Danielle Burge racked up two RBIs on three hits for Heartland. She homered in the sixth inning and singled in the fourth and sixth innings. Kathryn Brown got it done in the circle on the way to a win. She allowed two runs over 4 1/3 innings. The Heartland pitcher struck out three, walked three and surrendered two hits.
Heartland jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the top of the first. The Heartland attack began with a single from Lindsey Stevens. A stolen base then moved Stevens from first to second. Christina Beam doubled, scoring Stevens. Heartland didn't give up the lead after the sixth inning. Additional runs came from a solo home run by Burge and three singles.

An error in the first inning and a two-run single by Brittiany Tjarks, a groundout by Kate Mayes, and a fielder's choice during the second inning helped Heartland put some runs on the board early.
Tjarks racked up four RBIs on three hits for Heartland. Susan Goetze was in control in the circle. Lincoln managed just one hit off of the Heartland's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during her four innings of work.
Heartland added three more runs in the top of the third. A single by Tjarks ignited the offense, scoring Mackenzie Fox and Kelsey Lowry. That was followed up by a sacrifice fly by Christina Beam that scored Melissa Jagodzinski. Heartland increased its lead with four runs in the fourth. Chelsea Anderson's two-run home run got things going, plating Amber Seiler. That was followed up by a groundout by Audrey Butler that scored Fox.

Game 1 - Heartland falls 13-1 to Lincoln Land CC despite Stevens' effort

Heartland lost 13-1 to Lincoln Land CC on Sunday at Springfield, despite a total of six hits. Lincoln Land CC's pitchers couldn't stop Lindsey Stevens at the plate. Stevens went 1-3. Stevens singled in the fifth inning. Lincoln Land CC's Detmer showed her talents on both sides of the diamond with a strong game in the circle and at the plate. Detmer racked up three RBIs on three hits for Lincoln Land CC. Detmer singled in the first and second innings and homered in the third inning. Detmer baffled Heartland, striking out four batters. Lincoln Land CC's pitcher allowed one earned run, six hits and no walks over five innings. The lead stayed with Lincoln Land CC after the first, when it scored three runs on an error, , and a wild pitch. Lincoln Land CC increased its lead with seven runs in the second. The inning looked promising, as Mordacq homered to kick things off. That was followed up by that scored Estill. Heartland managed to score one run in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Mackenzie Fox.

Game 2 - Heartland take out Lincoln Land CC with help from Stevens, 6-3

Lindsey Stevens collected three hits to help Heartland to a 6-3 victory in seven innings over Lincoln Land CC on Monday at MLL. Two Heartland runs were scored thanks to timely hitting by Stevens. Stevens doubled in the second inning and singled in the fifth and sixth innings. Beth Wilson worked out of six tough spots for Heartland. She pitched seven innings and allowed two earned runs on seven hits. Wilson faced her toughest moment in the fifth inning. Jenkins led Lincoln Land CC's offensive threat, as she got on base three times in the game. Jenkins doubled in the first inning and singled in the fifth inning. Wilson was strong on the mound, as she threw strikes on 82 of her 128 pitches. Wilson collected 10 strike outs and walked six for Heartland. The game was never in doubt after the first, as Heartland scored one run on. One run in the bottom of the third helped Lincoln Land CC close its deficit to 3-1. gave Lincoln Land CC life. Wilson ended the inning by getting Detmer to strike out. Heartland increased its lead with two runs in the fifth. A scored Stevens for the inning's first run. That was followed up by a groundout by Amanda Hainlen that scored Kate Mayes. After pushing across two runs in the bottom of the fifth, Lincoln Land CC faced just a 5-3 deficit. A walk by Carter and an RBI single by Detmer set off a Lincoln Land CC rally. But, Wilson got Schultz to strike out to end the inning.
