International travel broadens horizons and offers lessons not available in any textbook. Heartland Community College is proud to offer short-term cultural trips abroad.
Cultural tours provide the advantages of traveling abroad, participating in guided tours of cultural attractions and being part of a group tour while earning college credit. It is easy for students to fit the cultural tour into their academic, work and family schedules. Participants may elect to take the Cultural Tour for three hours of credit (HUMA 100) at a slightly higher cost.
Heartland will alternate destinations each year. Cultural tours are limited to 25 participants.

The trips generally last 10-11 days visiting cultural sites and towns and usually conducted over Heartland's spring break
Cultural tours are economical for many students at less than $2,700. The cost includes airfare, accommodations, tours and activities. Students taking the class for credit register and make payments the semester prior to departure.
Students must complete the cultural tour registration packet and return it to the Development Secretary in the Community Commons Building, Suite 2300 at the Normal, Illinois campus. Payment for the tour must also be submitted to the Development Office.
Students who enroll for the credit option must register at Student Services for HUMA 100 as part of their schedule. Payment for the class is due according to the established College guidelines for tuition payment.
All participants will be required to attend a mandatory pre-departure orientation meeting held approximately one month prior to departure.
Payment deadlines are scheduled throughout the semester.
Cancellation charges do apply for those signing up for a cultural tour based on the amount of notice given.
