RECRUITMENT
Student services continually conducts recruitment activities throughout
the district. High School recruitment activities create a level
of awareness regarding opportunities for learning at Heartland Community
College. Cooperation and communication with all district high schools
and area vocational centers have been a goal of recruitment for
Heartland Community College.
Visits
to Area Schools
All 17 high schools and three area vocational centers are visited
at least once each year. In most cases, two visits are made. At
these visits a Heartland Community College representative acquaints
students with degree offerings, occupational programs, certificate
programs, developmental programs, opportunities for studies abroad,
scholarship opportunities, and support services available to students
attending Heartland Community College.
Participation
in the High School Counselor Organizations
Heartland Community College advisors and staff participate in meetings
of the McLean-DeWitt Regional Counselors Association, Livingston
Area Counselors Association, and Lincoln Land Area Counselors Association.
Sponsorship
of Area College Night
In the fall, Heartland Community College hosts college night for
area high school students. More than 75 colleges and universities
bring information about their institutions to share with area students.
Heartland Community College also participates in college nights
held at Lincoln Community High School and Pontiac Township High
School during the school year.
